A5 COTTAGE GARDEN JUNK JOURNAL PRINTABLES
These A5 Cottage Garden junk journal printables are a free set of 5 illustrated spreads and one page of matching elements, built around a soft English garden: roses, hollyhocks, a thatched cottage, and women pottering about with baskets, teacups and an old umbrella. You can right-click any spread below to save it, print at A5, and glue it straight in.
This is the gentlest junk journal set I’ve made so far. No bold colour, no big statement page, just a garden you’d want to sit in for an afternoon.
The Spreads In This A5 COTTAGE GARDEN JUNK JOURNAL PRINTABLES Set
Five scenes, each built around the same cottage and the same garden, seen from a slightly different angle each time:
- A woman in a straw hat gathering roses and daisies into a basket, cottage visible behind her.
- A similar scene from further back, with more of the garden and path showing, and a pink shawl over her shoulders.
- Four women sat around a garden table with teacups and a French press, hollyhocks framing the whole page.
- A woman on a garden swing, basket of flowers in her lap, the cottage glimpsed through the trees.
- A woman reading under a parasol, a basket of roses at her feet and a small dog curled beside her.
Every spread has an open, undecorated middle, so this set reads more like wallpaper for your writing than a finished page on its own. That’s deliberate. These are spreads you write over, not just look at.
The Elements page
One page in this set holds elements from the spreads on its own: the woman with her basket, the cottage, the swing, the dog, a teacup and saucer, a watering can, an umbrella, a garden gate, hollyhocks, daisies, and more. Pull any of these out individually and use them to build a page from scratch, or to patch a corner of a spread that needs a bit more.
A Note On Using these A5 COTTAGE GARDEN JUNK JOURNAL PRINTABLES
Because these spreads are so open, they suit almost any kind of page: a gardening log if you actually grow things, a slow-living or simple-pleasures page, a summer memory, or just somewhere calm to write when the rest of your journal feels busy. The swing and the reading-under-a-parasol spreads in particular feel made for a page about rest.
How I Made These
Built in Canva with its AI image tools, aimed at a classic, hand-painted English garden illustration rather than anything modern or bright. Here’s the prompt I used:
“British cottage garden scene soft watercolor wash, gentle woman in soft clothes and straw hat outside in cottage garden full of flowers with a basket of picked flowers in her hands, blue summer sky trees in full leaf arranged naturally on aged linen paper, illustration style, gentle paper grain texture, uneven organic edges, high resolution printable, portrait orientation”.
Swap the flowers for something from your own garden, or change the season, and you’ll get a set with the same bones but a completely different feel.
